Lyderhorn hike

Visit Bergen
Lyderhorn is one of the seven mountains of Bergen and is a popular hike for locals and tourist alike. From the top you have a great view towards The North Sea and the archipelago off Øygarden and Askøy.

There are several routes to the top, but this suggestions is the easiest option by public transport and also one of the most scenic routes. The hike can also be done in the reverse order of this itinerary. Along the way you can discover Kvarven Fort, a strategic location during World War 2.

The hike takes about 2-3 hours and is suitable for most hikers. It’s possible to walk up Lyderhorn all year, but during winter you should bring spikes for your shoes as there may be icy parts along the trail (especially on the last elevation towards the summit). Please also note that the sun sets early in the winter, so bring a headlight in your backpack for safety.

For small children the hike might be a bit long. The hike is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers, but it’s possible to bring a stroller on part of the route (to Kvarven Fort).
