Discover the Paraceratherium, the largest-ever land mammal; the *Gigantopithecus blacki*, the Asian ape that was three times as tall as a modern orangutang; and *Gastornis laurenti*, the giant flightless bird whose fossils were discovered near Toulouse and are being exhibited for the first time at the Muséum. “Géants” exhibition at the Muséum de Toulouse

For the first time, Les Abattoirs exhibits its extensive photography collection between October 2024 and May 2025. This modern and contemporary art museum, located in a group of 19th-century slaughterhouses, is known for its collection of 2,000 works including a unique theater backdrop painted by Picasso. Reserves also possess a very extensive photography collection. This exhibition presents a wide selection that begins in the early twentieth century, with great names such as Brassaï, Robert Doisneau, Agnès Varda, and Sabine Weiss. Toulouse is the “departure point” of the Canal du Midi, the 17th-century civil engineering work by Pierre-Paul Riquet. This colossal construction connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean. Here, you can visit the place where Riquet developed his project in the service of Louis XIV. He spent ten years studying the water supply system for his future canal here in the park of the Château de Bonrepos. Riquet built vast experimental basins in his own open-air laboratory here in this small valley of the Garenne. A certain blue house turns its back on the “Pink City.” From the spa to the museum to the boutique to the restaurant, every detail is in a cerulean shade. At Terre de Pastel, the obsession focuses on a single plant, Isatis tinctoria (or dyer’s woad). From the 14th to the 16th century, dyer’s woad was a plant that brought wealth to Toulouse.
