10 Instagram spots beyond Bergen

The hike is approximately 2,5 kilometers and it is a relatively easy walk. The hike is also suitable for families with children. Estimated time is about 1.5 hours back and forth. Most of the walk is on a gravel road so you should be fine with ordinary sneakers.

The starting point for the trip is Mjøsvågen in Hosanger. The best is to park by the school called Hosanger Montessoriskule.

Kossdalssvingane

The hike to Skogsøyna is about 8 kilometers back and forth, in varied terrain. The start of the hike is located at the small bridge to Herdlevær. There is a provisional car park on the far side of the bridge and you can also park your car along the road. But there is only room for a few cars, so carpooling with your fellow hikers is the best option.

Make sure you wear hiking shoes as part of the terrain can be wet. Along the path you will have a good view of the sea, and when you get to Skogsøytuva you will be able to see both far and wide. Be extra careful in bad weather, the waves get big in this area, and there are many places with a high drop down to the sea.

To visit Hesjedalsfossen you have to travel by car from Bergen towards Voss. Just past Dale you make a left on road no. 569. Follow this road for about 20 minutes and you will find Hesjedalsfossen on your right along the road.Park the car at the picnic spot just by the bridge and walk to see the waterfalls from the road.

Fedje - The village in the ocean

You can either take the train or drive from Bergen to Trengereid. The train from Bergen to Trengereid takes just under 20 minutes. You can take all trains going to Oslo, Voss or Myrdal. If you have a car, the drive from Bergen to Trengereid train station will take you about 40 minutes. We recommend that you park at the train station.

You might have heard of Preikestolen (or the Pulpit Rock) in the Stavanger region, world famous for its fjord view. "The Castle" in Modalen is a miniature version of Preikestolen – a mountain rock resembling a pulpit.The hike is relatively easy, suitable also for children from 4–5 years of age, but be careful at the top.
