Eurobodalla's National Parks, State Forests and reserves offer something for everyone. Set off on a bushwalk, stop for a picnic, mountain bike the trails, four wheel drive the tracks or set up camp surrounding yourself in nature.

Deua National Park

Broulee Island is joined to the mainland by a permanent sandbar and is always accessible. Find it at the southern end of North Broulee Beach or park at Broulee Surf Club and head north around the rocks to Shark Bay, where a short beach walk leads you to the island. Photographers will enjoy the ocean vistas across pristine rock pools. The walk features native plants and is known for birdlife, including the superb fairy wren and white-bellied sea eagle.

Broulee Island Nature Reserve Walk

The Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden is situated on a 42-hectare forest site on the South Coast of New South Wales, five kilometres south of Batemans Bay.

The Garden grows and displays plants that occur naturally in the region. The site abounds with a wide variety of flora and fauna including many of the 2000 species of plants, trees and shrubs of the region. There are kangaroos, wallabies, bandicoots, possums, echidnas, snakes, lizards, frogs and many birds.

Features include display gardens, walking tracks, picnic and barbecue areas, a children's playground, a visitors centre and a café.

Please note no pets allowed in the gardens. Assistance dogs are permitted. No bicycles or vehicles allowed in the gardens.

Sadly, Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden was damaged by a bushfire in early January 2020. It re-opened to the public in July 2020 after six months of repair, rebuilding and colourful regrowth.

Mount Budawang trail

Spanning 44km of dramatic coastline, and home to the spectacular 3 day Murramarang South Coast Walk, Murramarang National Park is the ultimate spot to soak up some sun and explore the cliffs, headlands and pristine beaches of the NSW south coast. Be sure to pack your swimmers to hit the surf, binoculars for spotting peregrine falcons and sea eagles soaring high above the cliffs, and your fishing rod to catch dinner.

This is one of the rare spots in Australia where the spotted gums grow right down to the ocean, offering plenty of shade in the warmer months and a stunning backdrop for a nature escape all year round. When you're ready to take a break from the stunning beaches you can opt to canoe or walk around Durras lake instead. The Durras lake discovery trail is perfect for kids.

Murramarang is a great place to spend the day but if you'd like to stay longer, there's a good choice of campgrounds, including caravan and motorhome sites with a range of facilities. If you don't feel like camping, book into one of the park accommodation options like Depot Beach cabins, Pretty Beach cabins, Pebbly Beach.

Murramarang National Park

Budawang National Park is wilderness. Rugged and isolated, it's full of steep mountainsides and tall moist forests. There are glossy black-cockatoos in tall eucalypt forests, shallow rivers, and wallabies in patches of grassland.

The park derives its name from one of its dominant features, Mount Budawang whose name is a variation of the Aboriginal word Buddawong'. The prominence of its peak meant it was used to light signal fires and to observe the movement of people between the highlands and the coast.

Today, this park is perfect for adventurers and experienced trekkers who will love the walking through remote areas and river camping opportunities. If you're looking for a place to truly get away from the civilised world, Budawang offers a ready haven. Hiking in the park is suitable for fit and experienced bushwalkers equipped with sufficient water and survival gear. There are formal and informal walking tracks, meaning this is a perfect place to set off into the bush with a map and GPS.

Come for a day walk, or prepare the backpack for a full weekend getaway. Expect spectacular scenery and plenty of solitude.
