Take a walk from the Sainte-Barbe Oratory, where you can even ring the bell! Then go down the majestic staircase leading to the chapel, built into the rock itself. This truly superb site overlooks the Ellé River. Built around the 16th century, the chapel is worth the detour. Its vault is in stone, without beams. A little farther along you might visit the “fountain of devotion.” Legend has it that if a single young lady were to throw a round-tipped hairpin into it, she would surely be married within the year.
